Towards a carbon-neutral, circular, and sustainable economy 

TOWARDS A CARBON-NEUTRAL, CIRCULAR, AND SUSTAINABLE ECONOMY 

Circular economy and sustainable systems can decrease consumption levels and climate change. Moving to renewables and towards carbon neutrality and clean energy can lead to green sustainable economies. The transition towards resilient green low carbon economies encompasses reducing waste and integrating clean efficient energy systems, thus reducing large-scale carbon footprint. Carbon-neutral environmentally sustainable circular economies cut down CO2-emissions, promote reuse and recycling, manufacture resource-efficient products, and fight planned obsolescence.

Panel 1: Sustainability management and performance

Sustainability, performance and organizational strategies; sustainability reporting and sustainability management practices; corporate sustainability management; sustainability performance measurement and assessment; business cases and corporate engagement with sustainability; sustainability implementation of retail chains; sustainable supply chain management in the public sector; sustainability behavior and environmental performance of urban systems; sustainable product lifecycle management; sustainable smart city governance; environmental accounting and reporting.

Panel 2: Sustainability marketing practices

Green behaviours in sustainability marketing; sustainability, marketing, and public policy; sustainable purchasing patterns and consumer responsiveness; knowledge management, sustainability marketing and service improvement; urban sustainability marketing tools; corporate sustainable development and marketing communications; the environmental impact of marketing; consumer perceptions and marketing strategies; marketing the business, brands and products; value creation for sustainability-oriented marketing.

Panel 3: Sustainability accounting and reporting

Sustainability accounting and performance; sustainability performance measurement and reporting;  innovating corporate accounting and reporting for sustainability; sustainability accounting and integrated reporting; sustainability accounting and organizational change; accounting and auditing of sustainability; integrative management of sustainability performance, measurement and reporting; corporate environmental accounting and reporting; sustainability accounting, management control and reporting.

Panel 4: Environmental sustainability technologies

Artificial intelligence-based biodiversity, energy, transportation and water management; sustainable enterprise design 4.0; Industry 4.0 and sustainability in production; sustainability technologies in operations analytics and supply chain management; artificial intelligence-based energy consumption, economic growth, and environmental degradation; big data-driven environmental economics; green energy technologies for environmental sustainability; the science and technology of sustainability.

Important dates

  • Proposals to serve as panelists and chairs should be submitted before 1 September 2023.
  • Paper submission – deadline 25 October 2023.
  • Paper acceptance – deadline 1 November 2023.
